Is Mariah Carey headed for an Atlantic City residency?

It seems that the M.O. for divas of a certain age today is to transition from putting out chart-topping hits to delivering nightly shows on the Caesar's Palace (or any other Vegas casino) stage. From Britney Spears to Celine Dion, the strip is littered with pop icons, and it would only make sense for the elusive chanteuse herself, Mariah Carey, to join them. But not so fast...

While rumors were swirling back in August of this year that Mimi was being poached for a multi-year (multi-million dollar) residency in Sin City, it sounds like she's actually switched her focus to a gig in Atlantic City! Hey, once a tri-state girl, always a tri-state girl.

As Wendy Williams reported on her talk show this week, Mariah, who hails from New Jersey's neighboring Long Island, is rumored to be considering a residency in either Connecticut or Atlantic City. And, much like us, Wendy thinks it's a great idea!

"Atlantic City has turned into a dump," the host explains. "They're closing those casinos, and crime is high, and the economy is bad. My thought is that Mariah Carey could be the savior to the state of New Jersey and the city of Atlantic City. People would go to Atlantic City to see Mariah Carey."

We certainly would! It makes so much sense for the "#Beautiful" singer to do a residency on the east coast. For one, she calls NYC home, which wouldn't be too far away. This also gives her and Dem Babies a familiar place to set up shop, vital amidst their divided family (as Mariah is in the midst of a divorce from the twins' father, Nick Cannon). Not to mention, as Wendy points out, she won't have to go up against other Vegas acts like Jennifer Lopez - who, as real Lambs know, is not Mimi's favorite person.
