Mariah Carey and thousands of Chinese fans sing "Hero"

Mariah Carey just finished the China leg of The Elusive Chanteuse Show tour, and on Monday she shared a video compilation of one of the most moving parts. At each concert, the superstar performed her inspirational classic "Hero". Now footage of her singing the track in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Tianjin and Shanghai has been combined into one flawless performance that is every much about her as it is the thousands of Chinese fans who know every word.

Carey released "Hero" in 1993 as part of her third studio album, Music Box. It went on to top the Billboard Hot 100, garner a Grammy nomination, and hit the platinum sales level. It's long since been considered one of the singer's signature songs, and seems to take on new meaning every time it's performed.

These times were no exception. And there was a milestone involved, too. According to Carey's camp, the appearances in five Chinese cities made her "the first western artist to play five stadium shows in China". Pretty amazing. She wrote on Twitter when she shared the "Hero" compilation video, "Xie Xie China. Thank you for singing along with me. Wo Ai Nimen China lambily."

Of course, as Gossip Cop reported, Carey's tour didn't exactly get off on the right note, or notes. The former "American Idol" judge kicked things off in Tokyo earlier this month, where she seemingly struggled to hit certain bars, and even complained that her microphone stand wasn't working properly.

It seems those kinks have been worked out over the last few weeks. Carey took to Twitter on Sunday night to share a Vine of her warm-up, and boy, can her voice go high! Carey's tour now continues with more dates through Asia, before she heads to Australia next month.
