Mariah Carey enlists Randy Jackson for new album

When it comes to entertainers, there are very few who can compare or compete with the quality of Mariah Carey's back catalog. One of the world's highest selling and most critically acclaimed artists, recent months have seen reports of a new album from the singer that many are hoping will live up to the standard of the her earlier material.

Now it has been confirmed that she has summoned world renowned producer Randy Jackson to work on the project, just days after her very telling interview with Barbara Walters surfaced here. Hours ago, long time creator James Wright took the social networking site Twitter to reveal:

"Trying to sleep but can't. Grrrrr. Was in the studios late with Randy Jackson working on some Mariah Carey tracks." Of course, this news came as music to the ears of many Carey's supporters. Jackson and Wright are responsible for many of her oft celebrated numbers, including "Fly Like A Bird" and "I Wish You Knew".

With Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri also confirmed as two of the album's other contributors, here's to hoping James Posyner - responsible for the song "Mine Again" - jumps on board Carey's creative train in coming weeks, since she seems to be going for a more ballad driven sound this time around.
